Acer to raise prices in the US due to Trump's import tariffs.

Acer is raising the prices of Chinese-made PCs and laptops in the US by about 10 percent due to import tariffs proposed by the US government.

Acer's CEO, Jason Chen, announced that the company will raise prices on hardware made in China by about ten percent in the United States due to import tariffs that President Trump plans to implement. These tariffs are expected to take effect in March, and Acer wants to prepare for the changes. Products manufactured in China will be more expensive for American consumers.

It may take some time for Americans to notice the price hikes, as Wccftech reports. The hardware produced under the new tariffs won’t enter the distribution chain immediately but will begin doing so in March. Other manufacturers like ASUS, Dell, and HP are likely to follow suit with similar price increases.

Acer also mentioned that if tariffs on Chinese products rise further, the company might open factories in countries other than China, including potentially the United States, although this is still uncertain.

President Trump had earlier discussed a possible ten percent tariff on imports from China, Mexico, and Canada but later mentioned a potential 25 percent tariff on cars, chips, and medicines from these countries. So far, the tariffs have not been fully implemented, with tariffs on products from Canada and Mexico even being delayed for a month.

It remains unclear whether European consumers will see similar price increases, as no manufacturers outside of the U.S. have announced any changes. The Entertainment Software Association has already warned that the impact of these tariffs could be felt globally.
